Social Opportunities

 Mariner Groups

Mariner Groups meet monthly for meals and fellowship events. Adults are placed into a “Mariner Ship” with other adults in the same age-range. Mariner groups also participate in mission and outreach activities, and many groups take turns hosting our Sunday morning Coffee Fellowship following 10:00 a.m. worship. On Kickoff Sunday in September each year, sign-ups are available for those who would like to join a Mariner Group.

Friday Book Club

On the 4th Friday of each month, a group meets in the Fireside Room to discuss a book and share in fellowship. Remember to bring your own coffee October 24 at 10:00 a.m. in the Fireside Room. All are invited to come and share in what is always a lively discussion.

Congregational Meals

Several times a year, the congregation gathers together for meals and fellowship. Annually, we have an All-Church Picnic on the Sunday following Camp Valley (formally VBS) (July), a Fall Congregational Dinner to celebrate the end of the Stewardship Campaign (November), and a Winter Congregational Dinner following the Annual Meeting (February). We also have a simple meal on Maundy Thursday each year, before worship remembering Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples.

Advent Fair

Annually, Valley Community Presbyterian Church hosts an Advent Fair, usually on the first Sunday in December. People of all ages come to the Advent Fair for crafts, wreath-making with fresh greens, food, fun, and fellowship. Adults host many craft tables for children, where the children may make ornaments, bird houses, hot chocolate mix, jewelry, and many other items. Many families make their Advent candle wreaths and Christmas greens at the Valley Advent Fair each year. Donations are accepted for the cost of the greens and materials. All are welcome!
