Sunday School for Children Pre-K through Grade 5
Pre-K children (ages 3 and 4) begin worship with their parents in the Sanctuary in the 10:00 am service. They are escorted by their parents to Room 4 after “Time with the Young Church” under the care of our Guardian Angels. The Kindergarten class joins the Pre-K children for the Bible story presented by our Director of Children’s Ministry. Our Director of Children’s Music joins the Pre-K class for music time mid-class. Pre-K children then have an opportunity to act out the story with finger puppets and/or complete a simple art project based on the Bible story presented to them. Snacks of graham crackers and apple juice are provided before the end of class at 11:15 am.
Children Kindergarten through Fifth grade are invited to participate in our Creative Classroom Circuit 10:00-11:15 am. Children begin worship in the sanctuary with their families. After the “Time with the Young Church”, they are greeted in the narthex by their classroom Shepherd who will be carrying a color-coded pennant (blue for Kindergarten, green for First, yellow for Second, orange for Third, red for Fourth and maroon for Fifth). All elementary age children proceed to Armitage Hall for music time with our Director of Children’s Music. Shepherds present the Bible story, take attendance and accept the children’s offering. Next the children are escorted to an activity station where they enjoy art, cooking, drama, games, science or video focusing on the Bible story they have just been presented. Each week a different activity. At the end of the service, parents and families may refer to their bulletins and to our bulletin boards in the East wing to identify where to pick up their child.
Nursery Care
Nursery and toddler care is provided for infants through three years from 9:45-11:15 am.
Do you love children?
We are seeking adults who love children (empty nesters, grandparents, parents) as Nursery Care Volunteers to share one (1) Sunday every three (3) months caring for our infants through three-years-old in Room 7. What a wonderful way to serve Valley and help prepare for our future! It’s rewarding and fun! Please contact Donna Rueff for more information. |
