Please welcome our new Associate Pastor

With almost two years under our belt, the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee (APNC) has good news to share. Our path has taken us through many twists and turns to study the needs of the congregation, create a picture of Valley for potential candidates, read piles of Personal Information Forms, conduct phone interviews, check references, spend weekends with candidates and listen to many sermons. Our path has led us to Rebecca Chancellor.

Rebecca was raised in Stillwater, Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2008 with her Master of Divinity degree, and she has been serving as Director of Youth and Children’s Ministries at University Presbyterian Church in Austin, Texas for the past six years. Rebecca comes to Valley with rich experience of serving the young church and their families while integrating the voice of youth into the life of the whole church.

Rebecca’s gifts, skills and passion are exactly what the APNC has been seeking for Valley’s next step. We thank God for leading us to her! She has been offered and has accepted the nomination to be Valley’s newest Associate Pastor with a focus on Youth Ministry. A congregational meeting held after worship on Sunday, June 6, gave the congregation an opportunity to vote to concur with the APNC on her call, as well as terms of the call which were approved.

Thank you for your patience with this lengthy process and most of all, thank you for your support of our efforts. We were very excited about welcoming Rebecca Chancellor to our pastoral staff and Valley family.
